VEX Robotics team High-Q (Year 9 students Eric, Jayden, Lucas, Ricky) travelled to Iowa to take part in the US Open tournament. There were 150 teams competing from all over the world and this was one of the last tournaments before the World Championships in April.

The first day saw High-Q compete in the Skills Championship, finishing 9th. This set them up well for the tournament once it started on Day Two.
Day Two started with their 13 qualification matches. Despite a few robotic challenges, the team finished the qualifiers as 9th seeds. This guaranteed them a spot in the elimination matches in their division. The team performed well but were unfortunately eliminated in the semi-finals.
In recognition of their overall performance, the boys were presented with the VEX Excellence Award. This award is the highest honour in VEX Robotics competitions, recognising a team with overall excellence in both judged criteria and on-field performance. It rewards a comprehensive program, including a top-tier engineering notebook, high-quality interview, strong robot skills, and positive, student-centred conduct.
Congratulations to the team! We look forward to sharing their journey when they contest the upcoming World Championships.
