Earlier this year, our fodder machine travelled 693km down the Golden Highway from our Ag Plot to our partner school, Walgett Community College. As part of Knox’s Social Justice Program, the unique initiative saw the fodder machine donated to Walgett Community College’s Agriculture Department.

“Not only will this be of great benefit to Walgett Community School and their community, but it will provide several partnership and expedition opportunities for our students in Agriculture, Engineering and Community Service,” said Knox’s TAS teacher Daniel Bailey.
Now in use by the community, the fodder machine is central to parts of a TAFE course which students in Walgett have been busy completing.
Fodder machines can play particularly important roles in drought effected areas, like Walgett, although delivery was delayed due to floods in 2022.
We are thrilled to see the decommissioned fodder machine back in use in conjunction with Walgett’s Agriculture Program.

“Hello everyone. For those who don’t know me, my name is William. I’m a Year 12 student here at Knox – and I’m also a proud Trawlwoolway man from the northeast of Tasmania. This year’s NAIDOC Week is special. Not just because it’s a celebration, but because this year marks 50 years of NAIDOC. That’s 50 years of truth-telling. 50 years of strength. 50 years of celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s identity and resistance.”
