Mrs George has volunteered for over five years with Vision Australia, running workshops for blind and vision impaired primary and high school students during the holidays and providing audio description services for professional theatre companies such as Opera Australia, the Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir and the Sydney Opera House.
With her scholarship, Mrs George will undertake residencies at the National Theatre and Vocal Eyes (London), the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington) and at various prestigious theatres in New York.
“I will also be examining links between Audio Description and Literacy, which I hope to utilise to improve my teaching of essay writing to my Knox Drama students,” said Ms George.
