The Prep School hosted Old Boy Alex Richter (OKG20) for our bi-annual Ride With Richter fundraiser, to support SpinalCure Australia’s impactful neurostimulation research.

Alex shared his story of resilience, community, courage and curiosity; and took part in a Q&A facilitated by Jesse (Year 6).
Mr Jared Rastall (Director of Student and Staff Experience at Prep) linked Alex’s experiences to the Knoxigations units studied throughout the Prep School. These included technology modifications in Year 3’s ‘Purpose Influences Design’, medical research in Year 4’s ‘Individuals Can Create Key Turning Points in History’, and the concept of ‘Diverse Designs Create Liveable Cities’ in Year 5.
Afterwards, Prep students enjoyed a sausage sizzle lunch, and we look forward to the biking component of Ride With Richter (which was sadly postponed due to rain.

“Hello everyone. For those who don’t know me, my name is William. I’m a Year 12 student here at Knox – and I’m also a proud Trawlwoolway man from the northeast of Tasmania. This year’s NAIDOC Week is special. Not just because it’s a celebration, but because this year marks 50 years of NAIDOC. That’s 50 years of truth-telling. 50 years of strength. 50 years of celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s identity and resistance.”
