On Friday 14 March, 107 Knox students and staff put their hair on the line for the World’s Greatest Shave.
This important fundraising event was driven by School’s Social Justice team, led by Head Prefect of Social Justice Edward (Year 12) and Helen Clarke, the Head of Diversity, Justice and Stewardship.
“The event was absolutely amazing,” Edward said. “Everyone got involved, it was a great atmosphere, and everyone supported the boys. Having a big event really made a difference in boosting the donations.”
Zaviar (Year 12), Social Justice Prefect, shared the fact that “the Leukaemia Foundation has committed over $3.3 million to new research”.
Headmaster Scott James also joined the Shave: “Being involved means you’re not just aware – you can take action. It’s a wonderful community event. It builds spirit, and you can see that with what we’ve achieved together.”
At the time of publication, Knox staff and students had raised $125,193 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Knox’s School Captain Arjun (Year 12) added: “This cause is important in bringing together the Knox community, and the wider community. It’s awesome that Knox has been doing this for a long time. My motivation is the people around me.”
French Language Teacher Samantha Ireland also had her head shaved in front of a cheering audience. “It’s my opportunity to give back and raise funds and awareness for this important cause,” said Sam.
Chester (Year 12), Vice-Captain added: “The World’s Greatest Shave is so much more than a fundraising event, it brings so much awareness in terms of knowing exactly the impact of the cause, in the way the website is set up.”
The Leukaemia Foundation are making a stand for this cause, with more than 275,000 Australians expected to be living with a blood cancer or blood disorder in 2035, and around 135,000 people in Australia living with blood cancer or blood disorder today.

On the weekend, our top Chess players continued their solid run in Chess competitions this year by securing first place in the Secondary Open NSW ASTC Playoffs. In December, Harvey (Year 8), Lucas (Year 8), Ethan (Year 9), Richard (Year 9), Savin (Year 10) and Ralph (Year 12) will represent Knox Grammar School and New South Wales at the Finals in Melbourne.

On Saturday 6 September, team ‘Molten Ice’ achieved first place in the 2025 ProgComp Grand Final. This High Schools Programming Competition is powered by ‘cupcake’, an initiative of the UNSW School of Computer Science and Engineering.
