The historic Trinity College, Oxford, United Kingdom was the location for the International da Vinci Decathlon on 30 September 2024.
This year’s competition was an exciting day of intellectual challenge, collaboration, and creative thinking, as ten teams from across the United Kingdom and Australia gathered to compete. Participating teams came from:
The da Vinci Decathlon is renowned for its rigorous academic competition across ten disciplines, testing students’ abilities in cartography, English, art and poetry, mathematics, science, ideation, creative producers, engineering, legacy and code breaking. This year’s theme, Creativity, will be woven throughout the challenges, paying homage to the inventive genius of Leonardo da Vinci.
The day opened with a welcome from Mr Dylan Sherman (OKG12) a nano engineer, lawyer and educator. We also welcomed a special address by esteemed speaker, Professor Martin Kemp, a world-leading scholar on the works of Leonardo da Vinci. Professor Kemp inspired students and guests with insights into da Vinci's creative genius and legacy.
The day concluded with an awards ceremony, celebrating the remarkable achievements of these bright young minds. Congratulations to Methodist Ladies' College (WA, Australia) on winning the Junior Division and The Riverina Anglican College (NSW, Australia) on winning the Senior Division at the International da Vinci Decathlon 2024. The Knox Grammar teams placed second in both divisions.
