Last week marked a musical milestone for Knox Prep. We held our inaugural Prep Concerto Competition. A remarkable 23 Prep music students from Years 1-6 submitted video performances of themselves playing a movement from a concerto.

After great deliberation, the Prep Music staff shortlisted seven outstanding finalists. The students performed live on the Prep Oval on Friday afternoon in front of all students from Years 3-6.
The audience cheered and applauded each performer as they took to the stage and gave enthralling performances. The level of musicianship and confidence displayed by our young performers left everyone in awe.
We were honoured to welcome two expert adjudicators from the Senior School Music Department: Ms Clare Yuan and Mr Chris Costaganna, both highly experienced musicians and long-time adjudicators for the Senior School Concerto Competition. They were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional standard of playing and the musical maturity of our finalists.
Our Years 1-6 finalists represented a wide range of instruments and ages, showcasing the incredible breadth and depth of musical talent in the Prep School.
Congratulations to Jasper (Year 4) in first place, Jacob (Year 3) in second place, and Geoffrey (Year 1) in third place.
Well done to all our finalists and entrants. Your hard work, passion, and courage have set a new benchmark for musical excellence at Knox Prep.
We look forward to next year’s Prep Concerto Competition, and we know that many students in the audience were inspired to ‘practise every day they eat’ and perform in this event in 2026.
