The team of players from the Rice University Owls in Houston, Texas, are visiting Australia to participate in the College Football Sydney Cup, the opening weekend of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) College Football season.
Students in Year 7 at Knox participated in a lunchtime clinic with the players, learning five key American Football skills.
"They're pretty good," said Rice freshman wide receiver Chris Boudreaux. "Their play was a lot better than what I was expecting.”
“It was a great day for me, honestly,” Carl Thompson, Rice defensive lineman. “It’s probably the best thing we have done since we’ve been here.”
The Rice University Owls play in Division 1, the highest level of collegiate football in America, with a football program that began in 1912. They have also produced many past and current NFL players.
