Knox Grammar School is proud to celebrate three distinguished members of our community who were recognised for their outstanding service in the 2026 Australia Day Honours.
Former Knox Headmaster Mr John Weeks OAM was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division for “service to secondary education”.

Mr Weeks served as Knox’s seventh Headmaster from 2004-2018. In his time at the School, he helped transform Knox’s pastoral care, teaching and learning programs and was responsible for many major building projects. In 2009, Mr Weeks introduced Positive Psychology to the School. Knox was one of the first Australian schools to implement a comprehensive whole of school Positive Psychology program. Another key focus of Mr Weeks’ time at Knox was the development of a quality teaching program.
Knox also congratulates Mr Peter Roach OAM (OKG79), former School Council Member and Chair of Council, who was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM). Mr Roach was recognised for “service to the community through a range of organisations”, including education.

During his tenure at Knox, Mr Roach served as Knox’s Chairman from 2013-2018. He joined the School Council in 2001; was Treasurer and Chair of Finance & Audit Committee (2001-2009) and Deputy Chairman (2007-2013).
Current Knox School Council Member, Dr Andrew Wines AM (OKG87), was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for “significant service to orthopaedic surgery, and to the community” in the 2026 Australia Day Honours.

Dr Wines has been a valued School Council Member since 2023 and contributes to the Infrastructure Committee. Dr Wines is also a current member of the Old Knox Grammarians’ Association committee and Chair of the Old Knox Grammarians' Philanthropic Foundation.
Their contributions embody the values of Knox Grammar School and continue to inspire our students, staff and the broader community.
