The quality of candidates who applied for the position was outstanding and we are grateful for the level of interest shown in the position of Head of Prep by so many highly accomplished educators.
With an extensive and successful career in primary school leadership, Sue has a particular passion for boys’ education. Sue is currently the Head of Junior School for MLC School, prior to which she was at Trinity Grammar School for a total of 13 years in a number of roles including Deputy Master of the Junior School, Dean of Curriculum and Foundation Director of Early Childhood.
Sue is an inspirational and innovative educational leader. Sue stood out for her commitment to putting the child at the centre of all learning, as well as for the energy and warmth she brings to building strong relationships with children, their families and staff. She believes in targeted teaching that enables every student to achieve significant growth. For her, school is a place where each boy should feel valued and that he has a voice.
Sue prides herself on knowing each child and works closely with parents to ensure they feel part of a vibrant, caring learning community. Sue has taught all grades from K-6 as a classroom teacher, and has a commitment to the process of continual improvement. Sue is driven by excellence, by effort, hard work and persistence leading to achievement.
We would like to thank Mr Mark Hemphill for his outstanding leadership of the Preparatory School over the past eight years. Mark has been an inspirational leader, and will be missed by the students, staff and parents. We wish Mark success in his new position in Hong Kong.
We look forward to welcoming Sue to the Knox community in 2018.
