Knox Grammar School would like to invite you to enter a team or teams in the third International da Vinci Decathlon and Race around the Renaissance to be held in Europe from the 22 September 2017 to the 9 October 2017. This exciting and memorable event includes students in Years 7-10 from across the world. We visit Rome and Italy’s other beautiful cities such as Siena, Florence and Venice, as well as Paris and London.

The da Vinci Decathlon is named after Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), one of the world’s greatest thinkers and scholars. Whilst his career spanned an enormous range of disciplines: art, architecture, poetry, academics, anatomy, hydrodynamics, mechanical and military engineering, mathematics and astronomy, he demonstrated a superior ability to perceive the interconnected nature of knowledge and embraced learning

with a lifelong passion and determination to uncover the unknown. Very little preparation is required prior to the event other than learning to work as a team and understanding the concept that is the focus of the competition.

The competition places a particular emphasis on higher order thinking skills, problem solving and creativity. Students working collaboratively in teams are highly stimulated by competing in tasks that encompass Engineering, Mathematics, Ideation, Code Breaking, Cartography, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Science and Creative Producers.

Race around the Renaissance

This exciting initiative starts in Paris and ends in London. The students will be given clues related to the Renaissance at each location.
